Psychology 301 - RESEARCH DESIGN & ANALYSIS

A tour via SPSS of the major statistical models encountered in psychology. Topics include most of the following each year: complex and mixed analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, multi-item scale analyses, factor and cluster analysis, multiple regression, path analysis and structural equation modeling. Adopting a pragmatic approach, we emphasize assumptions and requirements, rules of thumb, decision-making considerations, interpretation and writing statistical results according to the conventions of psychology. Prerequisites: One of the following: PSY 201, GOV 190, MTH 219, MTH/SDS 220, ECO 220, SOC 201, EDC 206 or a score of 4 or 5 on the AP Statistics examination or the equivalent. Enrollment limited to 20 and priority to psychology majors.
