Art and money are inextricably intertwined. We’ll delve into the ramifications of this relationship in the ways art is valued in the contemporary art market and the consequences for museums, collectors, artists, and for the general public. Topics include artists’ self-fashioning for the market as well as the historical detective work it takes to reveal the practices which have fed this market of limited supply and infinite demand including looting and forgery. These are stories which need to be shared with an ever-wider audience especially in a time when the importance of art to humankind needs reevaluation.
