This course examines historical, political, social and cultural developments, movements, and transformations in Germany since reunification. Students explore the fall of the Berlin Wall, Holocaust memory and memorialization, the GDR past, reunification, multiculturalism, environmentalism, and how Germans engage with these topics in literature, film, exhibits, memorials, and the media. In addition to the primary sources, course materials will include secondary sources on German history, politics, society, and culture. Conducted in English. (Gen.Ed. I)
