The arts have long been leaders and mirrors of social change, daring to move forward where others will not tread. In this course we take a step-by-step approach to Green your nonprofit arts organization, build community excitement while cutting operating costs, find and create internal allies, find financial support, communicate a Green philosophy to donors and patrons, identify and make substantive change, and educate and lead our audiences toward a green future. This course will address: staff/management resistance, the Triple Bottom Line, Green Team creation, spending prioritization, no-cost changes, and will walk students' Greening Plan. All course work is applied to a case study organization, which may be your own organization or one where you volunteer.
ARTS-EXT/HM&FNART 500 This is a 3 credit blended course open to Soph/Jr/Sr/Grad students. We meet once a week for lecture/discussion and all assignments and exams are in Moodle. Intro to Arts Management (HM&FNART 500) can be taken concurrently.
If the course is filled, contact the Arts Extension Service. The department is willing to open a second section if necessary.
