This colloq serves as a service learning and community engagement experience where students who are planning to become K-12 teachers have opportunities to understand the conditions that culturally and linguistically diverse students need to overcome in order to learn and succeed in school.
The one credit honors colloquium is offered to undergraduate students enrolled in EDUC 497I, Tutoring in Schools. A service learning/community engagement experience for students planning to be K-12 teachers or other professionals in schools, it provides opportunities to understand conditions faced by culturally and linguistically diverse students trying to learn and succeed in schools.
