Social neuroscience is an emerging field that is at the intersection of social psychology and neuroscience. This course provides an overview of social neuroscience by focusing on its major topics (e.g., self, emotion, cognition, motivation), methodologies (e.g., fMRI, EEG/ERP, peripheral psychophysiology), and future directions. The goal of this course is to allow students to (a) learn how methodologies in neuroscience can be used to address important questions in social psychology and (b) gain a multi-level understanding of how the human mind is shaped by biological, psychological, and socio-cultural factors.
Open to Graduate students only.
