An introduction to operations management in manufacturing and service industries. Emphasis on learning the basic principles, using MS EXCEL, required to organize and manage service and manufacturing organizations. Topics may include improved facility layout, project management, supply-chain management, Just-in-Time systems, inventory management, scheduling, and work force management. Discussions of real world applications frequently used to demonstrate concepts.
This class is open to Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Isenberg BBA majors or Sophomore and Junior Pre-SOM students only. RES-ECON211/212,STAT240,OIM240 Students who wish to take OIM 240, STATISTC 240, or RES-ECON 211 or 212 concurrently with OIM 301 should submit a BBA Course Override request through this link https://www.isenberg.umass.edu/programs/undergraduate/on-campus/advising/bba-course-override. Override requests for spring enrollment will be reviewed in late-December and late-July for fall enrollment. Please note that enrollment is not guaranteed.
