There is more than one way to find success in college and the path to getting there is different for every student. This class will help incoming students define their individual goals and connect them to the resources needed to achieve these goals. Through activities and exercises students will discover the many academic and co-curricular activities available at UMass and begin creating their own roadmap to graduation.
Open to first-year SBS students (include direct admits to all SBS majors and Exploratory Track SBS students) There is more than one way to find success in college and the path to getting there is different for every student. Our goals in this course are to:
1. Make social/interpersonal connections that will enhance your ability to become more productive contributors to your communities, both at UMass and beyond.
2. Develop academic goals and begin to plan individual pathways toward achieving those goals.
3. Understand the values and perspective of an SBS major and the overall structure of UMass.
4. Identify and connect with resources and opportunities around campus, the 5-college consortium, and the Pioneer Valley
5. Improve your academic skills.
