Service Learning 393 - Adv Community Service Learning

This course is designe for students who have successfully completed an introductory course in Community Service Learning. Students will continue exploration of the topic from their introductory course, and will continue a service placement of at least 30 hours in a community organization the same as or similar to their first-semester placement. Reflection on service experience will be a critical componenet of both classroom discussion and written assignments. A research paper or prject will allow students to explore in more depth a question or problem that is significant for them and for the community organization with which they are working.

The course is designed for students who have successfully completed SRVCLRNG 293: Learning through Community Engagement. Students will continue exploration of a topic from their introductory course. Reflection on Service experience will be a critical component of both classroom discussion and written assignments. A participatory action research project will allow students to explore in more depth a question or problem that is significant for them and for the community organization with which they are working.
