Levantine Arabic I is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Levantine Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Levantine Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Levantine Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria or the West Bank and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.
Students must apply to add this course. Contact the Five College Center for World Languages at fivecolleges.edu/fclang.
The ability to read and write in Arabic and basic speaking ability in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) or a spoken Arabic dialect is a prerequisite for all Center courses. See our spoken Arabic page for details: https://www.fivecolleges.edu/fclang/arabic
