Career and Major Investigation is a seminar designed for students who are searching for a major or who have declared a major but aren't sure what they might do with that major after college. Through activities and class discussion we'll explore what makes you "you." We'll investigate what you love and what you want out of a job/career. You'll discover the academic opportunities UMass offers and learn how to customize your UMass experience. This course requires self-reflection and a willingness to share your thoughts with the class. You'll improve your communication skills and practice critical thinking strategies though writing, presentation, and informational interviews. You'll be introduced to campus resources, HFA's Career Development Team, and others on campus who are here to support you on your journey to graduation.
Open to first-year Humanities and Fine Arts Exploratory Track students and first-year HFA Majors. HFA Connect RAP is an opportunity for students who are entering declared in any HFA (College of Humanities & Fine Arts) major or undeclared in the Humanities & Fine Arts Exploratory Track to live and have their college seminar together. In this 1-credit seminar, "Career & Major Investigation" (HM & FNART 192M), a course designed to investigate what students love and want out of a job/career through discovering the wide array of academic opportunities UMass offers and learn how to customize your UMass experience. This seminar will offer students an opportunity to increase self-reflection, improve communication skills, and practice critical thinking strategies as they explore academic major requirements and career options.
