Social & Behavioral Science 398DF - SBS Diversity Fellows Internsh
F 4:00PM 5:30PM
In this 1-credit seminar and internship experience, you will develop valuable professional, leadership, advocacy, interpersonal, and organizational skills and apply them to your work as a Diversity Fellow, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across SBS and helping first-generation and BIPOC students to navigate their undergraduate experience. This experience is designed to foster your own personal, intellectual, and professional development as much as it is to prepare you to provide a valuable service for first-generation and BIPOC students, your departments, and the College in general. Every element of your work in this course (in class and staff meetings and through your Diversity Fellows internship) is designed to scaffold your development as a highly competent and ethical professional and engaged community leader able to approach individual, social justice, and organizational challenges in nuanced and socially responsible ways. Class will meet synchronously once per week, and internship hours (3-4 hours/week) will be conducted remotely. The course is open only to students who are serving as Diversity Fellows interns in Fall 2020. No books are required for this class.
