This undergraduate practicum introduces students to the field of art museum studies. Topics may include the history of the art museum, collections management, exhibition and curatorial practices, museum and curatorial ethics, writing and digital technologies for museums, or museum education. The practicum emphasizes experiential learning at UMass or area museums.
ART-HIST100,110,115,116 or 118 This undergraduate practicum will introduce students to the field of art museum studies. Topics will include the history of the art museum, museum departments, exhibitions, writing for museums, and a special focus on the field of museum education. The course will emphasize real-world applications of class topics, introducing students to a variety of careers in art museums.
Varies from 1 to 18 credits
