This course is designed for undergraduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders. The course content serves as an introduction to neuroscience as it relates to speech, language, and hearing. The focus of this course is on the structure of the human brain and the spinal cord and on the functional organization of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Your learning experience will be supplemented by the use of interactive digital atlases to learn the gross anatomy of the major neural systems underlying sensory, motor, and cognitive function. Consideration and analysis of clinical cases representing a variety of neurological disorders will provide the means for consolidating your understanding of functional neuroanatomy.
