This street dance course is designed for dancers to learn the fundamentals of Hip-Hop and House dance. Students will learn the history and culture of Hip-Hop and House along with dance terminology and movements. Class will include across the floor drills and center combinations which will ask the dancers to find their relationship to musicality, athleticism, dynamics, and articulation of the body. Students will be introduced to the "jack" and maintain that groove while doing a variety of footwork patterns. Using film and text in addition to studio work, this class will create a framework from which to understand and participate in the global culture of street dance.
Open to DANCE and BFA-DANCE majors only.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
