English 355 - Creative Writing Fiction

A seminar in writing short stories and other fiction for students who demonstrate familiarity with the basis of scene and story. Students write regularly, read and criticize one another's writing, read in contemporary fiction. Prerequisite: ENGLISH 354 with a grade of 'B' or better.

ENGLISH 354 w/B Students should email one complete story and a brief personal statement (list and briefly discuss your reading preferences, your favorite writers and books), along with your contact information, to Professor Hennessy: jjhennes@english.umass.edu. Please include contact information. Submission deadline is November 20th. Registration after this date is possible, but priority will be given to students who meet the November 20th deadline. Students will be notified of their status by December 10th. Please let us know 1) if you are seeking the specialization in Creative Writing and 2) when you plan to graduate.
