Students will extend the audio interviewing, reporting and productions skills they learned previously to develop and create individual and group audio clips, including the completion of a class-conceived podcast dedicated to a local issue. Students will learn about sound design, new technological tools and advanced audio production techniques as they complete their audio pieces. This course also introduces students to the social and technological history of radio, the business and economics of audio storytelling, as and modern innovation in the audio industry in preparation for pursuing a potential career in audio journalism. This is a dynamic and hands-on course that requires students to work together and individually to complete professional audio stories with a series of strict and rotating deadlines.
