This class focuses on enabling students to create their planning toolbox for use at the local or regional level in urban and regional planning, sustainability, resilience, architecture, public policy, conservation, and/or landscape architecture. It is a hands-on examination of the tools and techniques communities use to implement their vision. We examine current planning, how to get things done through regulations (e.g., zoning), investments (e.g., protection of greenways and parks, transportation systems to serve all modes of travel, and municipal finance), managing planning functions, changing cultures, and everything in between.
Open to DACSS master's students. This course fulfills a substantive elective requirement for the DACSS Masters degree and the DACSS Advanced Certificate.
