Students will identify ways to incorporate personal interests with academic interests.

This course is open to students in the Performance & Visual Arts RAP in Van Meter. First-year (R1ST) Topic: Music in the Digital Age

Spotify. TikTok. Memes. Interacting with music has changed dramatically within the past generation - and is now changing even faster. What tools and skill sets do we need to build for identifying and analyzing the way we consume and produce music in the 21st century? This course provides an overview of select topics in this field, giving an introductory critical understanding of industry upheavals and musical movements that have occurred in the past 20 years, culminating in a final project where groups of students select a present-day artist or phenomenon to analyze and locate within the current musical moment.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
