Mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters is a service-learning course where you will learn about relevant issues of youth development and gain effective skills as a youth mentor - which you use as a "big" to a "little" through the Hampshire County Big Brothers Big Sisters organization or within a local afterschool program.
This is a service-learning course and all students will be involved in a youth mentoring activity outside of class time (time to be determined in coordination with Big Brother Big Sister staff).
Students engaged with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program will go through a more extensive process that includes a completed application, a background check (CORI and National Criminal Record screening), driving records, comprehensive interview, and references, etc. Students placed with BBBS must also make a commitment to be a mentor for at least three semesters.
Alternative placements at local after school programs are also available.
