Honors project expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional project manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all projects: - are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters. - begin with creative inquiry and systematic research. - include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor. - culminate in a final presentation.

Students must apply through CHC PATHS to add this course THE STUDENT DEADLINE TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THEIR PART OF AN HONORS 499T APPLICATION USING CHC PATHS IS THE LAST DAY OF CLASSES OF THE FALL SEMESTER. Students wishing to register for the completion of an Honors Thesis (499T) must complete a contract proposal application with their faculty chair using CHC PATHS (honors.umass.edu/chc-paths/) for online approval by their chair and other reviewers, including the Academic Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate's Commonwealth Honors College Council. The application should be done during pre-registration to ensure that the supervising faculty and other reviewers have sufficient time to submit the application to CHC by the first Thursday of the semester for final approval and registration before Add/Drop ends.

Students registering for an Honors Thesis following Honors Research (499Y) must have the approval of their faculty committee. Submit their proposal through CHC PATHS (honors.umass.edu/chc-paths/) for online approval by their sponsor, committee, and other reviewers, including the Academic Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate?s Commonwealth Honors College Council. Once fully approved it will be registered in SPIRE by Commonwealth Honors College. REGISTRATION SHOULD BE DONE DURING PRE-REGISTRATION AND COMPLETED BEFORE THE END OF THE ADD-DROP PERIOD.
