In the digital era, technology is everywhere, smart devices are talking to one another, virtual reality can transport students across the world, social media is spreading information (fake and real) at a rapid pace, YouTube is the go-to tool for informal learning, and anyone, anywhere can create or remix multimedia. This project-based course focuses on how technology provides new affordances for, and ways of thinking about, teaching and learning. In this course, you will examine how technology mediates and influences teaching and learning in and across formal and informal contexts. You will do this by engaging in (and reflecting upon) technology-based learning activities grounded in the ISTE Standards for Students. You will also explore the theoretical, practical, and social justice issues related to using new technologies for teaching and learning.

This class is organized based on the model of blended learning. Tuesday classes will be held in person in Furcolo. Thursday classes will be asynchronous online. Thursday asynchronous online classes will consist of engaging in online learning modules, building your technical literacy skills, and using technology to design multimodal, interactive educational materials, tools, and resources
