Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers IV is the second part of a two-part intermediate course sequence in Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Cantonese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in China or Hong Kong and engagement with Cantonese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Students must apply to add this course. Contact the Five College Center for World Languages for details: fivecolleges.edu/languages.

Prerequisite: Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers I - III or equivalent.

Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers is open to advanced and native speakers of Mandarin Chinese and heritage Cantonese speakers who have taken at least one year of college-level Mandarin Chinese or the equivalent.

Permission is required for interchange registration during all registration periods.
