The goal of this 1-credit seminar is to review advanced calculus and linear algebra, not as a collection of stand-alone recipes but as a coherent body of knowledge. In addition to going over the basic computational techniques and problem solving strategy, we will will also revisit these materials systematically, emphasizing the geometric point of view and connections between different topics. The weekly meetings will divide between in-person lectures and in-class problem- solving. Successful completion of this seminar fulfills the Mathematics & Statistics Department?s Advanced Calculus and Linear Algebra Exam requirement for the PhD program.
