How do children learn to think about the world around them? In this course we will examine developmental changes in children's ability to think and reason about the physical and social world, with a focus on infancy through late childhood. The major aims of this course are: (1) to provide a survey of the major theories, methods, questions, and issues in the field of cognitive development, and (2) to understand the role of biological and cultural processes in shaping cognitive development. When combined with Psych 494PI, this course will satisfy the Integrative Experience requirement for Psychology majors.

Open to PSYCH and Neuroscience majors. PSYCH 241 and 304, 315, or 350 Psych majors must have taken (Psych 314 OR Psych 315 OR Psych 350) AND Psych 241. Other students should contact the instructor with evidence of preparedness for permission to enroll.

Advanced IE Elective Course: When taken in combination with Psych 494PI, this course can count towards the Integrative Experience (IE) requirement for Primary Psychology majors. This course and 494PI do not need to be taken in the same semester.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
