This seminar is a welcoming, community-based course designed for all students beginning their UMass Amherst journey in the spring semester. Whether you are returning from your first semester abroad, at the Mt. Ida campus, starting your first semester of college, or transferring from another institution, this course provides an engaging space to connect, reflect, and thrive as you transition to life at UMass Amherst. Together, we will explore campus resources, academic strategies, and wellness practices while building meaningful connections with peers and campus partners. Through class discussions, guest speakers, interactive activities, and outside-of-class experiences, students will develop the knowledge, skills, and relationships that foster a strong start - and long-term success - at UMass Amherst.

Open to first-year students. This course will be restricted for new first year students (starting Spring 2026), new transfer students (starting Spring 2026), and Global Launch and Career Launch students.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
