Spring 2023 Virtual Seminar

January 30-April 10, 2023.

Taiwan: Identity and Place in the World Today

In this 10-week online seminar we will consider Taiwanese identity today through the lenses of history
and culture. What makes Taiwan unique? How have history and culture formed—and continue to
form—images of Taiwan, both within the island and beyond? In-service K-12 teachers from any discipline who are teaching in the U.S. and who are interested in learning more about Taiwan are eligible to participate. Please note that not all material may be suitable for all grade levels, but all will contribute to your general understanding of the topics addressed.

Participants who successfully complete all of the course requirements by the deadline will receive a
$150 stipend, a one-year subscription to Education about Asia, and a certificate of completion for 30
contact hours. *Please note that we can only pay stipends to US citizens and permanent residents.*
Limited to 20 participants. Application deadline: Friday, January 6, 2023, or until seminar fills.
