Graphs model a wide range of relationships and interactions, such as those found in social networks, web pages on the internet, and protein structures. To better understand these relationships, it is often helpful to visualize the graph. Beyond its many applications, graph visualization is also a fundamental area of research in computer science. In this seminar, we will focus on graph algorithms with applications in graph visualization. Students will select topics of interest along with recent research papers related to those topics, with the goal of exploring, understanding, and presenting their topics to the class.
Requisite: COSC 211. It will also be helpful to have taken one or more of the following courses: COSC 223, MATH 220, MATH 280, MATH 360. Fall semester: Professor Kryven.
