In this half-course, students will reflect on and compile evidence for having met the learning goals of the physics and astronomy majors. This capstone experience will help students to identify and articulate the skills and competencies that the major(s) have taught them. Students will also engage with scholarship in a range of subfields within physics and astronomy and will attend talks by and interact with guest speakers who are part of the department’s colloquium series. 

 

Open to junior and senior majors in physics or astronomy. This course is designed for juniors who intend to write an honors thesis and seniors who are not writing a thesis, though any junior or senior major may take it.

 

Prerequisite: At least four PHYS/ASTR courses. Professor Follette.

Students who enroll in this course will likely encounter and be expected to engage in the following intellectual skills, modes of learning, and assessment: Will include an emphasis on readings, independent research, and oral presentations.
