Students in the course will prepare for and participate in an extended field trip to a region of geological interest. Throughout the semester, students will research the geologic history and processes that characterize the field area. Teams will give weekly presentations on topics selected in consultation with the instructor, drawing on government reports, scientific papers, maps, and field guides. The class will produce a collaborative guidebook to the field area. All students enrolled in the course are required to participate in the field trip.
