In this class we will explore the many qualities and possibilities of drawing by asking questions and testing materials and ideas to hopefully arrive at a variety of answers. We will look for examples of drawing in the world around us, in search of its truth, beauty and relevance. We will challenge one another in finding ways of expressing ourselves that feel fitting for each individual. The expectation of each of you is to devote yourself wholeheartedly to these pursuits, to participate fully in our time together and in the work you do independently that contributes to our quest. You will be expected to keep a regular drawing practice outside of class during this semester that fits into your weekly schedule. I believe that art making should be accessible and immediate so in that effort, we are going to try to work with materials that reflect these ideas.
Arts, Design, and Media Independent Work Lab fee: $30. In this course, students are expected to spend 5-10 hours weekly on work and preparation outside of class time.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
