This course provides a welcoming and supportive environment for adults learning to swim. Designed for true beginners, participants remain in the shallow end of the pool at all times while building essential skills at a relaxed and encouraging pace. In a small-group setting, we focus on developing comfort in the water through exploration, floating, and open conversation about past water experiences. Over the semester, students will gradually develop foundational swimming skills, including horizontal floating, coordinated movement of arms and legs, and basic propulsion through the water. Flotation devices are used frequently to enhance safety, confidence, and relaxation. Emphasizing enjoyment, community, and personal progress, this course offers light exercise, skill-building, and plenty of fun in a supportive and judgment-free setting.
