'This course explores the false and tenuous dichotomy that exists between representational and non-objective art. We will work from a variety of sources including the figure, landscape, and appropriated imagery. Students will be asked to approach these familiar subjects using relatively unfamiliar painting and drawing methods. We will consider the works and ideas associated with Fauvism, Cubism, and Abstract Expressionism while becoming more familiar with contemporary practices.'
Prereq: Art Studio 116 or 120
