This class explores Artist's Books in the widest sense, creating one of a kind and edition-able works of art. Book structures and traditional and digital printmaking methods that work well together will be taught. Students will be encouraged to experiment and combine new and old methods of printing and presentation, which may extend to installation. We will consider how choices in sequence, structure, and the interaction of text and image influence the way content is perceived. As we consider haptic and spatial possibilities for reading, looking, and navigating the space of the page, we will look at a wide range of artists working with or nodding to the book form.
Prereq: Art Studio 256.
Students enrolled in this course will be responsible for some of the cost of course materials.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
