The course offers an in-depth overview of how the world is governed by focusing on the global actors, the issues, the rules, the processes, the successes and the limitations of this system. The course also discusses the tensions and challenges in global governance, specifically how to balance freedom with responsibility in the absence of a global government. It addresses these issues by examining leading academic scholarship on global governance, documentaries, and feature films. Students should come away with an expanded world view and understanding of global challenges not just as "problems out there" but as part of our collective future.
