Designed to integrate scientific and humanistic knowledge and methodologies, this seminar addresses the UN's Objectifs de développement durable by studying ecologies in French. We'll discuss the climate movement from Françoise d'Eaubonne's écoféminisme coined in 1974 to Fatima Ouassak's 2023 call for free movement in Pour une Écologie Pirate. Et nous serons libre. Inspired by Dupuis-Déri's 2025 BD Quand les élèves se révoltaient: Manuel d'histoire avant l'effrondrement, we'll weave ecologically oriented Francophone literature into French immersion sites on our campus environment, from Lower Lake to the art museum to the greenhouse to find sustainable ways of living and thinking in French.
Prereq: Two of the following courses: FREN-215, FREN-219, FREN-225.
