What is history? How and by whom is history produced? What is the relationship between history and other ways of understanding the past? This course is designed primarily for those majoring or minoring in history (but welcoming of others), and will explore the discipline of history and the philosophies and methods that have shaped its formation over time. Taught each fall semester by different members of the department, the themes and topics will vary, but will include diverse readings from across the discipline, along with opportunities to engage with practitioners within and beyond the department.
Course limited to sophomores, juniors and seniors; Prereq: 4 credits in History.
