This course examines changing patterns of wealth and income inequality in the U.S. We will explore how these inequalities have developed over time and various responses to them, both at the level of public policy, and at the level of popular activism and/or social mobilizations. We'll pay particular attention to the ways gender, race, sexuality, and ethnic differences interact in the structuring of social and political, as well as economic, inequalities. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Prerequisite: Gov 100 or a course in U.S. politics.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
