Topics course. An introduction to the theoretical and empirical analysis of regional or emerging powers that challenge the hegemony of the West in the international system. Emphasis is given to political, economic, and social change in the wake of globalization turning the world into a multipolar one. We will also look into possible opportunities to address some of the pressing global problems (security, trade, finance, development, climate change, etc.) in the wake of newly emerging powers and the challenge they provide for international governmental organizations.

Topic: Regional Powers. Instructor Permission. Not open to first-years, sophomores
