Through analysis of existing computational art and synthesis of original works, this course will expose students to real-time graphics, data-visualization, human-computer interaction, sensor networks, pervasive computing, and physical computing. Weekly programming exercises will serve to reinforce concepts from lectures and build a personal aesthetic. Students will also be required to complete readings, a presentation, and a final project. This project will challenge the student conceptually, technically, and aesthetically. Prerequisites: CSC 111 and either of CSC 212 or CSC 240 or permission of instructor. Students majoring in the visual or performing arts who have programming experience are encouraged to enroll, pending instructor's permission.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
