"When you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha." Sayings such as this are often found in Zen koan, one of the main forms Zen instruction. By examining the origin, development, and use of koan in the Zen tradition, this course will explore the ways in which koan express major teachings of the tradition. Enrollment limited to 30 students.
