This team-taught studio course will introduce first-year students to a range of conceptual frameworks for making and thinking about art. Unlike a skills-based class devoted to a single medium, in this course students will practice problem solving across traditional media boundaries. Students will have the opportunity to explore two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based media. Assignments will allow students to develop both studio and site-specific approaches. The course is strongly recommended for students considering the art major. A required fee of $25 to cover supplied materials will be charged at the time of registration. Enrollment limited to 25. Priority given to first-year students. (E)
