Topics course This course conceptualizes the Caribbean as a space of constant movement by examining the socio-economic and cultural dimensions of migration in the region, especially among the Anglo Caribbean nationals after Emancipation in 1838. Students will explore themes such as Pan Africanism, Garveyism and Labor and the implications for race and class relations in Caribbean societies greatly affected by migration. Comparative analysis forms a key component of this course. Students, at the end of the semester, will be able to locate the experiences in the Anglo-Caribbean within a regional and global context.
