This course introduces students to the variety of methods of inquiry used for research in anthropology. Normally taken in the sophomore or junior year. Prerequisite: ANT 130. Enrollment limited to anthropology majors. Enrollment limited to 20. The course critically examines the transformative impact of the Internet and related technological innovations from an anthropological perspective. We explore these issues from various geographical locations to better understand how the Internet is reshaping ideas about participation, geography and space, global access to information, and mobility. We pay particular attention to the emergent inequalities, opportunities and identities that are created as certain people and places become "wired."
Topic: Internet Connections and Digital Divides. Limited to ANT majors
