Topics course.: This course examines pre-theoretic intuitions about the mind and the theories of mind that have been offered to account for such. Some of the questions considered are: whether the mental identical with or distinct from the body; whether consciousness is essentially private; whether we could we build a machine that is conscious; and what, if anything, do contemporary investigations in cognitive science and artificial intelligence have to teach us about the nature of the mind?
