DAN 101 is a variable topics studio course which introduces students to the practice and study of diverse forms of movement and dance. These courses present and address physical, somatic, theoretical and cultural practices in a variety of movement experiences. DAN 101 is designed as a mixed level course that includes the beginning mover as well as the more experienced mover. Students may register for DAN 101 up to three times for credit.: Argentine Tango is the elegant social dance of the city of Buenos Aires. Class will include the steps, the history, and anecdotes about the culture of tango. Students will cover traditional and modern forms. All dancers will learn lead and follow. Wear leather soled shoes or bring socks. Class will consist of a warm up, the learning of strong basic technique, movement on the dance floor with and without a partner, in the various musical rhythms of the Argentine social form.
