The fundamentals of effective presentation for an audience, on the page and/or on the stage, integrating research, writing, memorization, argument building, debate and persuasion, and technology-assisted performance, supported by critical thinking skills, vocal production exercises, and strategies for physical relaxation and poise. The class will involve individual and collaborative exercises in each student’s major or area of interest, as well as practices from other disciplines, and will culminate in a public presentation. The course will be of particular interest for students who foresee activism, performance, teaching, law, politics, public service, creative writing or ministry as a profession. Enrollment limit of 12. Graded S/U only. Does not count toward the major. (E)
