Topics include cathedrals and universities, struggles between popes and emperors, pilgrimage and popular religion, the Crusades and Crusader kingdoms, heresy and the Inquisition, chivalry and Arthurian romance, the expansion and consolidation of Europe, and the Black Death and its aftermath.
