Sectioned course: This course introduces the fundamentals of rock climbing to the beginner. It emphasizes smooth climbing technique as well as familiarity with the equipment, various knots, belaying and rappelling. Basic top-rope anchor building is also covered. Safety issues are a strong emphasis in this course. The majority of class time is spent on the Ainsworth Gym climbing wall, but also include off-campus trips.
