With so many macromolecules, cells, and tissues in the human body, how do we ensure our therapeutics get to the correct nervous system target? To answer this question, we discuss the challenge of delivering therapeutics to the brain and discuss strategies for targeted delivery. Throughout the semester, you will apply this knowledge as you take on the role of neural engineer to develop your own therapeutic for targeted delivery to the nervous system target of your choice. You will write a mini research proposal on this topic and practice explaining your proposed work to a non-scientific audience. Prerequisites: NSC210, BIO200, BIO202 or BCH 252 and general experience with science writing from other science or lab courses. NSC230 is strongly recommended. Juniors and Seniors only. Instructor permission required. Enrollment limited to 12.

[CE] JR/SR only

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
